DIY Gotta Go Garment Rack

Paige

If you are anything like me, getting ready in the morning takes longer than it should. Not because I’m slow…but it’s that “what do I wear” question that plagues us all. And even if I DID have the wherewithal to come up with an outfit idea the night before, I’d get lost the next morning trying to find it. Or…it will be full of dog and cat hair! This is actually happened – then I have to get out the lint roller and start cleaning my outfit.

I need a place to hang up my clothes and SAVE VALUABLE time in the morning, so I can head out the door on time. Even when I have had my outfit in mind, there’s always the last-minute fumbling “Where is my bracelet? Where is my hair tie? Where is a clean pair of undies?” So this last question might not be at the top of your list…but trust me, when you are looking for something when you are rushed in the morning, knowing where everything is will help you de-stress before you start your day!

I don’t know how traffic is in your area, but here is Los Angeles, it’s crazy. And if you leave just a few minutes later than usual, it can double your drive time. So save time in the morning by planning your next day’s outfit. And save yourself valuable time in the morning by having it organized and ready to go.

Problem: Getting ready in the morning – finding everything you want to wear so you are not rushing around and making yourself late. If you start your day stressed out, you will remain stressed out for the day! No one wants that!

Solution: Create a door changing station. Your outfit will be ready to go, and you can get to work on time! Less stress…enjoy your morning!

You Will Need:

  • Wreath hanger
  • 1×4 piece of wood
  • Ribbon
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Hook
  • Drawer Pulls
  • Staple gun
  • Staples
  • Drill
  • Drill bits
  • Screw gun

How To:

1. Take your 1”x4” and cut it to 4 feet. You will want it to end about a foot up from your door, so the size will depend on the door you have and the wreath holder you get. You can have the hardware store cut it to size.

2. Paint the board and set aside to dry.

2. Lay out on the board what you would like to display. (Think shirt, pants, accessories, etc.)

3. Mark with a pencil where you would like them to go on the board.

4. Drill holes where you would like to add your hardware.

5. Attach the hardware.

6. Add your ribbon to the back of the board and secure it into place with a staple gun. Tie it in a bow on the top.

7. Voila! Use it every day, reduce stress and don’t be late for work!
