Your first dance as husband & wife … it can be a little daunting! You are dancing in front of all of your friends and family (aka all of America – yikes!) … and if you’ve never danced before, that alone is enough to get the heart racing. Add in the fact that we decided to be quite ambitious and call on the help of some of the best dancers in the country to choreograph our dance for us and you have yourself some serious butterflies … but you see, we love the butterflies. We are gamblers and there was no way we would have done our first dance without going “all in”, taking a chance and making it something memorable. Thank you so much to Peta Murgatroyd and Artem Chigvintsev from Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) for helping us get dance-floor ready. We could not have done any of this without you!! ♥
One of the biggest decisions you will make together for your wedding day is the song choice for your first dance. Usually, it is “your song” together as a couple that was playing on your first date or your first kiss. Ours was definitely a bit different. We have been asked SO many times why we chose ‘I Bet my Life’ by Imagine Dragons. It is not a traditional, romantic waltz, and it’s not even traditional in a lyrical sense … but to us, it is so much more!
I’ve been around the world and never in my wildest dreams, would I come running home to you.
What this means to us:
When I met Jase, he was on tour with the classical singing group, The Ten Tenors. He was literally around the world on tour and never thought he would settle down and get married. He never thought that he would leave the touring world for a girl! It’s not like he was ready to settle down or looking to settle down like some guys. He literally thought “never in my wildest dreams, would I leave touring the world for a girl”. Then he met me! Everything changed.
I’ve told a million lies but now I tell a single truth: There is YOU in everything that I do.
What this means to us:
No matter what has happened in life, our single truth that we pledge to each other for our marriage is that from here on out (and for the past several years), we will have each other in every thing that we do. There isn’t a day that goes by, or a task we complete, that we don’t consider each other’s feelings. “There is you in everything I do”. We work together, we play together, we plan together and live life to the fullest together. Everything we do and will continue to do in our lives will involve each other. We delight in sharing our union with the world, but our union started years before. When we were both on the road in the beginning of our relationship, we noticed that everything we did (even though thousands of miles as Jase toured the world physically separately us), involved just a bit of the other person. And even though Jase never thought that he would leave a world tour for a girl, he did just that in 2009 and has never looked back.
I bet my life on you.
What this means to us:
We say in our invitation video that we are gamblers, though not in the typical sense. We gamble in real estate…and whether we win or lose, ultimately, we bet on ourselves, we bet on each other, we bet on our love…we bet on our lives. I bet my life on Jason – knowing he has my back, that we are a team, and that he would do anything for me. Jase bets his life on me. He changed everything – his schedule, his career, and his country to be with me. What an incredible honor that I get to call him my husband. As for the bet…we are “All In”.
XOXO,
Paige
