This year’s 4th of July celebration was extra special …

Most years we throw a HUGE party and invite all of our friends & family to come and celebrate America’s Independence with us.  This year we did things a little differently.

Jason’s sister Leanne, her husband Mick and their two children Jaidon and Jessica, have been staying with us since the wedding.  We wanted them to really experience and enjoy all of the fun that is the 4th of July, but also to understand why it’s so important to us.

We spent the day by the pool watching the kids and pups play and get into all kinds of mischief.  We enjoyed a BBQ buffet of Gourmet Hotdogs, and then we packed up our things and headed on down to watch the fireworks. We pulled our truck into the parking lot, laid out blankets and pillows and enjoyed the show. There was live music, some important speeches, a prayer and then … fireworks!

The night was about showing the Aussies a great time, but I think I enjoyed it more than everyone ♥. There is nothing quite like seeing a community come together to celebrate the freedom that they enjoy, thanks to the amazing men and women who provide it for us … I always think of them when I look up at the sky to watch the fireworks and it gets me every time.  I am so proud and so grateful to call this place home!
